3 Injured in K4 Accident

At 4:34 pm today Barry Depoy, 54 Nortonville, was driving North bound on K4 highway when his 2000 Ford Ranger went left of center and sideswiped a 2000 Dodge Grand Canyon driven Southbound by Jennifer Mason, 29 Valley Falls. Depoy’s truck then hit a 2006 Impala driven Southbound by Claudia Wilson, 56 Meriden, head on. Claudia Wilson was taken to KU Hospital via air ambulance. Barry Depoy was taken via ambulance to St Francis Hospital in Topeka. Stanley Wilson, 58 Meriden, who was a passenger in the Impala was taken via ambulance to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. Three other people were treated and released at the scene.

The accident caused K4 to be closed for 2  1/2 hours this evening while emergency crews from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas Highway Patrol, Jefferson County Ambulance Service, AMR, Lifestar, Rock Creek Fire Department, Kaw Fire Department, Topeka Fire Department, Soldier Township Fire Department and Kansas Department of Transportation attended to the accident.

K4 was reopened to normal traffic at 7pm.
