Arlan Thompson

Arlan Myers Thompson, 85, Meriden, died Jan. 10, 2012, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka.

He was born July 4, 1926, at Thompsonville, the son of Clarence Henry and Myrtle Eva Myers Thompson. He graduated from Perry Rural High School in 1943.

He was a farmer, landowner and cattleman. He owned Thompson Oil Company from 1958 to 1966 and owned and operated Thompson Sawmill from 1968 to the present. He was a member of Perry United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Lawrence Flying Club.

He married Esther Elizabeth May July 23, 1946, at Topeka. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Phil Thompson, Ozawkie; daughter, Pamela A. Pauley, Woodinville, Wash.; two brothers, Victor Thompson, Heston, and Leonard Thompson, Thousand Palms, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Thompson.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
