Auburn-Washburn to sell land

The Auburn-Washburn school district has put a 52-acre lot up for sale.

The lot, located near S.W. 30th and Urish, was supposed to be the site of a second middle school. However, a later purchase of more acreage near 29th and Auburn — land that potentially could fit both a second middle school and high school for the district — made the land obsolete.

So it was put up for sale about a year ago and is now listed for $1,285,000, said Martin Weishaar, communications coordinator for Unified School District 437.
