James Biggs

James Ivan Biggs, 78, Perry, died Jan. 30, 2012, at his home after a long fight with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born Sept. 9, 1933, at Independence, the son of Hugh and Elsie Anna Willenburg Biggs. He attended schools in Independence.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He then served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a master sergeant until he retired in 1993. He worked for the Federal Civil Service as a maintenance supervisor in Topeka for many years, also retiring in 1993.

He had formerly worked as the supervisor for the National Alfalfa Dehydrator in Grantville for many years.

He married Wanda Jean Dambacher July 18, 1955, at Bartlesville, Okla. She survives at the home.

Also surviving is one son, Rick Biggs, Perry; one daughter, Debbra Lake, Topeka; one brother, Hugh Biggs, Owasso, Okla.; one sister, Joann Barrett, Port Orchard, Wash.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Feb. 3. Inurnment was Feb. 4 at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry.
