It took members of the Holton Fire Department roughly seven minutes and 24 seconds to rescue a person trapped inside this wrecked vehicle during a mock rescue exercise held at Tuesday’s Kids Night event at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. Firefighters and rescue personnel used several tools to cut the top off the vehicle and rescue the person inside as a demonstration of how they would react in a real-life emergency. Those in attendance also were treated to a Westar Energy demonstration of the dangers of electric power and a free hot dog dinner, although a planned LifeStar landing was cancelled as the helicopter ambulance was called to an emergency while en route to the fairgrounds.
