Lowell King

Lowell Dean King, 76, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Leavenworth, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at his home in Topeka (Elmont), Kansas.

Lowell was born October 15, 1935, in Elwood, Kansas (then Missouri), to Tommy E and Georgia B (Roberts) King.

He lived in the Leavenworth area most of his life before moving to the retirement Community in Winchester, Kansas, then to the Topeka area two years ago.

He was a mechanic before becoming a truck driver. He worked for Kaaz Construction Co., Berkel Co. of Bonner Springs, Frito Lay Co. of Topeka, and Roberts Trucking of KCK.

Mr. King married Frances (Jaster) Ala of Leavenworth, Ks. They divorced.

Mr. King is survived by his son Randy King of Ozawkie, Kansas; his sister, Agnes Hashlou of Manassas, Virginia; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and cousins Jimmy (Bev) Roberts, Topeka, Ks. Ronnie Milborn, Bashor, Ks, Billy (Gloria) Milborn, Leavenworth, Ks, Junior Roberts, Easton, Ks, Wayne (Melanie) Roberts, Leavenworth, Ks, Larry (Terry) Roberts, Leavenworth, Ks, Gale (Charles) Wolke, Easton, Ks, Wanda (Mike) Doolin, Pine Bluff, Ark.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terry King, sons, Gerald King and Wayne King: sister, Betty Quest; and a brother, Dorel King, who died while serving in the Korean War.

Mr. King was cremated and a memorial service will be planned at a later date.
