Mabel Mae Peppard

Mabel Mae Peppard, 96, Oskaloosa, died Jan. 31, 2012, at the F.W. Huston Senior Living Care Center in Winchester.

She was born July 3, 1915, at Oskaloosa, the daughter of Andrew Harvey and Miami Florance Trower Brown.

A lifelong resident of Oskaloosa, she attended Oskaloosa public schools.

She was a Cradle Roll Member of the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church and was a 60-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 62 in Oskaloosa.

She was a cosmetologist for 45 years, owning and operating Mabel’s Modern Beauty Shop in Oskaloosa until her retirement in 1986.

She married George Rolla “Rollie” Peppard Oct. 22, 1936, at Oskaloosa. he preceded her in death May 26, 1978.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy L. Peppard and Ona “Kay” Perkins, both of Oskaloosa. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Sam Peppard, and four sisters.

Funeral services were Feb. 4 at the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.

Memorials can be made to Jefferson County Friends of Hospice or to the Religious Music Scholarship Trust c/o State Bank of Oskaloosa or to the Jefferson County Humane Society and sent in care of the Barnett Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 602, Oskaloosa, 66066.
