Name released of man killed in ATV-vs.-deer accident near Delia

A Missouri man was killed Saturday night near Delia when his all-terrain vehicle hit a deer and flipped, ejecting the driver into the roadway.

Kevin Scott Roberts, 46, of Sedalia, Mo., had left a gathering about 11:10 p.m. Saturday near 118th and F Road riding a 2013 Polaris ATV, according to a news release from Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse. The man was northbound on F Road a half mile north of 118th Road when the accident occurred. He was located by family and friends.

Morse released Roberts’ name late Sunday, saying his family had been notified.

Responding to the scene were Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Potawatomi Tribal Police and Fire Department, Jackson County EMS, Hoyt Fire Department and Mayetta Fire Department. Delia is about 25 miles northwest of Topeka.

The accident remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
