Perry man to stand trial in choking case

Trevor J. Benedict, 19, Perry, has been charged with aggravated child endangerment after being accused of choking his former girlfriend dozens of times.

He was ordered to stand trial in a Douglas County District Court last week.

Benedict’s defense argued that the case should be dropped after testimony by the 17-year-old girlfriend that the choking incidents were consensual. There is also evidence that he cut her with a razor blade.

The girls’ parents made the initial report to police.
