Winfield man killed Saturday in train-pedestrian accident

A Winfield man, Sam Dimit, 22, died after a train/pedestrian accident early Saturday morning, according to a press release from the Winfield Police Department.

At around 4:05 a.m. Saturday, according to the release, the Winfield Police Department, Cowley County Sheriff’s Office and Winfield Fire Department were dispatched to the area of W. 14th Ave. in Winfield near the railroad crossing for a reported train/pedestrian accident. The responding units arrived and located a deceased subject near the railroad tracks. Law enforcement officers spent several hours at the scene investigating the incident.

According to the release, the incident will remain under investigation, and more information may be released early next week pending the outcome.
