Christmas Weekend 2011 Weather

I have had quite a few people ask me about the weather for this weekend. For those staying in the area the weather looks nice. There will not be a white Christmas this year in Jefferson County though. Skies should be clear all weekend and high temperatures will be in the 40’s. Evening lows will drop down in the 20’s. Not bad for the end of December. I do know that quite a few people will be traveling this weekend and have asked me about travel weather. I figured I would just look at some nation wide forecasts and point out some trouble areas.

Looking at the national weather situation it is shocking that there are no major active weather systems foretasted for this holiday weekend. There is a chance for snow in New Mexico at the beginning of the weekend and in Washington State at the end of the weekend. Temperatures also look to be fairly mild across the Country.

Below is the composite winter weather graphic for the 25th, not much activity anywhere.

Next up is the high temperature map for the 25th, it looks very normal for this time of year.

Last graphic I will post on this is the morning lows for the 25th, once again very average for this time of year.

All in all, it looks like as perfect weekend to travel as you can get in late December.

Happy Holidays!!!

Doug
