SEL3 URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 153 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 400 PM CDT Sat May 8 2021 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Parts of central and north central Kansas South central Nebraska * Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 400 PM until 900 PM CDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter likely Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible A tornado or two possible SUMMARY...Thunderstorm development is expected by about 5 pm CDT in Kansas, with additional storms likely to form this evening into southern Nebraska. More isolated supercells with large hail and damaging winds will be the main threat initially, with some potential for upscale growth into a cluster toward 8-9 pm CDT. A tornado cannot be ruled out later this evening with any supercells that persist near the surface warm front. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 40 statute miles east and west of a line from 50 miles south southwest of Russell KS to 115 miles north of Russell KS.
