A Taste of Elegance once again boasted its best number ever after a successful fundraiser last Saturday night at Perry-Lecompton High School.
The night started with silent auction bidding before the dinner lines opened up for more than 500 guests who attended.
“I thought it was the best and most profitable event that we have put on,” Carole Hendrix said. “The people of Jefferson County were amazingly generous.”
The more than 300 items in the silent auction brought in $9,195. The live auction amassed $21,000 and the Fund-A-Need booth at the event took in $7,000. The rest of the $67,125 total was received through outright donations.
This was the most money that the event has raised, besting last year’s total of around $53,000 that will all be given to the Jefferson County Hospice.
“We’re really humbled,” Hendrix said. “We had people representing all four corners of Jefferson County and they do such great things for hospice.”
Hendrix, who played a large part in the organization of the event, noted the 105 volunteers who helped in every capacity to make the event a success.
“We’re overwhelmed and appreciative of the time and talents that all of those people donated,” she said.
