Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0736 PM CDT Wed May 31 2023 Valid 010100Z - 011200Z ...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THIS EVENING ACROSS PARTS OF THE TEXAS PANHANDLE... ...SUMMARY... Strong storms posing at least some risk for severe wind and hail remain possible this evening across portions of the central and southern Great Plains. ...01Z Update... While the primary upstream short wave perturbation only slowly turns east-northeast of the lower Colorado Valley, one or two more subtle impulses emerging from the Southwest have supported the initiation and eventual consolidation of thunderstorm activity spreading off the Sangre de Cristo and Sacramento Mountains of New Mexico. The trailing southern cluster may still be organizing a bit along an outflow boundary left by the lead cluster, across the Texas Panhandle vicinity, where inflow into updrafts may remain characterized by moderately large CAPE on the order of 1500 J/kg into the 02-03Z time. Before this convective cluster begins to weaken more substantively later this evening, at least some increase in strong to severe wind gusts remains possible. ..Kerr.. 06/01/2023
