Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0731 PM CDT Wed Mar 16 2022 Valid 170100Z - 171200Z ...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF THE SOUTHEAST... ...SUMMARY... Isolated severe thunderstorms remain possible this evening across parts of the Southeast. Large hail should be the main threat, with marginal potential for damaging gusts or a tornado. ...01z Update... Well-defined upper low is shifting east across AL into central GA in line with latest model guidance. As 500mb flow increases off the Carolina Coast tonight this feature will advance into NC by sunrise. Scattered strong, to locally severe, thunderstorms are most pronounced north of the mid-level jet where lapse rates are steepest - from central GA into southern SC. This corridor of convection will be the primary concern this evening with some eastward displacement over the next several hours. Large hail is the primary threat, especially given the modest MRMS MESH cores observed along the GA/SC border at this time. ..Darrow.. 03/17/2022
