The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 507
continues.
SUMMARY...Severe risk including the potential for
thunderstorm-related wind damage continues within Severe
Thunderstorm Watch 507, particularly for far east/southeast Virginia
and Chesapeake Bay vicinity.
DISCUSSION...A cluster of storms which has featured embedded
rotational characteristics continues eastward across the
Tidewater/coastal plain of southeast Virginia toward the Chesapeake
as of 20z/4pm EDT. The near-coastal environment will continue to
support the possibility of damaging winds in the short-term.
Additional development will likely also continue along the
west-southwestward trailing outflow boundary across southern
Virginia. Even while storms may focus on the immediate cool side of
the relatively fresh outflow, a near-boundary maximized colocation
of buoyancy and moderate deep-layer shear will support at least some
severe-weather potential within this corridor, particularly across
southeast Virginia.
