Areas affected...far southern Alabama and western Florida Panhandle

Concerning...Tornado Watch 51...

Valid 181413Z - 181615Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 51 continues.

SUMMARY...Tornadoes remain possible across a small part of southern
Alabama into the western Florida Panhandle.

DISCUSSION...Strong storms currently exist just north of Mobile AL,
within a line extending northeastward toward the larger-scale MCS
over eastern AL. Surface observations show rapidly increasing
low-level moisture just ahead of the southern cluster near Mobile,
where additional warm advection cells are forming and feeding into
this developing mesoscale system. Further, visible imagery shows
filtered sunshine downstream into the FL Panhandle, which may
accelerate eventual mixing and moisture advection northward ahead of
the developing complex across southern AL. Given 0-1 SRH of 200-300
m2/s2 and mesoscale lifting, a tornado, possibly strong, may form
over the next few hours, in an area bounded to the north by the MCS
outflow, and to the east by the relatively drier air.
