Areas affected...Portions of the FL Panhandle and southeastern AL

Concerning...Tornado Watch 65...

Valid 230756Z - 230930Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 65 continues.

SUMMARY...The greatest threat for isolated tornadoes and damaging
winds should exist across parts of the Florida Panhandle and
southeastern Alabama over the next couple of hours.

DISCUSSION...Low-level rotation continues to be observed with
low-topped cells over parts of the FL Panhandle and southeastern AL.
A moist low-level airmass, with mid to upper 60s surface dewpoints,
is fostering MLCAPE generally in the 500-1000 J/kg range along and
ahead of a broken line of storms. Both low-level and deep-layer
shear over this region remain rather strong, owing to enhanced flow
associated with a southerly low-level jet and southwesterly
mid-level jet, respectively. Recent VWPs from KEVX estimate a
curved/enlarged hodograph through mid levels, with 0-1 km SRH
exceeding 300 m2/s2. The sufficient instability coupled with the
strong low-level shear should continue to support updraft rotation
and a threat for isolated tornadoes and damaging winds as storms
move eastward this morning. The greatest severe threat over the next
couple of hours should remain focused across parts of the FL
Panhandle and southeastern AL, where the better moisture and
boundary-layer instability reside.
