SPC MD 442

MD 0442 CONCERNING TORNADO WATCH 111… FOR EAST TEXAS AND NORTHWESTERN LOUISIANA

Mesoscale Discussion 0442
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1011 PM CDT Sun Apr 02 2023

Areas affected...East Texas and Northwestern Louisiana

Concerning...Tornado Watch 111...

Valid 030311Z - 030515Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 111 continues.

SUMMARY...Potential for damaging winds and tornadoes continues over
the next few hours.

DISCUSSION...Storm mode has become more linear through the evening,
with embedded supercell structures still apparent across eastern
Texas and northern Louisiana. After earlier storms in the Shreveport
area, the VAD profile at KSHV showed low-level flow has return to
southeasterly. Surface objective analysis indicates 0-1km SRH
remains around 200 m2/s2. Backed surface flow and low-level shear
will support a continued risk for a tornado through the next few
hours. With further upscale growth, the risk for damaging winds will
likely become the dominate hazard through the evening.
