NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Areas affected...northeastern Colorado...into Southwest Nebraska and
western kansas

Concerning...Tornado Watch 207...

Valid 102245Z - 110015Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 207 continues.

SUMMARY...Scattered supercells ongoing along the Front Range and
into western KS/NE will continue to pose a risk for large hail
through this evening. A couple of tornadoes will also remain
possible as low-level shear increases this evening.

DISCUSSION...As of 2235 regional radar imagery showed scattered
severe storms including several supercells ongoing near the Denver
Metro and farther east into western KS/NE. Within the upslope flow
regime, 1000-1500 J/kg of MLCAPE and 35-40 kt of southerly effective
shear should continue to support supercells through this evening.
Cool mid-level temps and steep mid-level lapse rates around 8 C/km
will be favorable for large hail, and accumulating hail, with the
ongoing storms. The greatest risk for large hail appears to be
concentrated in portions of northeastern CO over the next couple of
hours. The tornado threat is less certain, but as low-level
hodographs enlarge this evening, 0-1km SRH around 200 m2/s2 may
support low-level updraft rotation given the supercell storm mode.
