Mesoscale Discussion 0983 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0645 PM CDT Sun Jun 11 2023 Areas affected...portions of North Texas including the Big Country area and the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 269... Valid 112345Z - 120145Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 269 continues. SUMMARY...Risk for severe weather -- mainly in the form of very large hail -- continues across parts of the North Texas vicinity. DISCUSSION...Severe-weather potential continues across the North Texas vicinity, as a cluster of storms near and east/southeast of Abilene continues producing hail locally, per WSR-88D/WDSS data. Meanwhile, new storm development is now occurring eastward from within the persistent CU field along the cold front, as far as the DFW Metroplex. Large hail will be possible with these storms as well -- most immediately associated with a splitting supercell over Parker County. Given mixed-layer CAPE in excess of 3000 to 4000 J/kg, and roughly 35 kt 0-6KM shear across this area, expect storms -- and hail potential -- to continue over the next several hours. ..Goss.. 06/11/2023 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product...
