The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  West and Southwest Texas

* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 250 PM until
  1000 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
    inches in diameter possible
  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

SUMMARY...Thunderstorm coverage is expected to increase this
afternoon across west and southwest Texas. A very unstable air mass
is in place, supporting robust updrafts capable of producing large
hail. Strong downbursts are also possible, along with the potential
for a few forward-propagating clusters which could also produce
damaging gusts. A few strong storms could move off the higher
terrain of northeast Mexico into Edwards Plateau as well.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 85
statute miles east and west of a line from 100 miles southwest of
Del Rio TX to 70 miles north northwest of Abilene TX. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
