The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  East central New Mexico
  Western South Plains of Texas

* Effective this Friday morning from 225 AM until 700 AM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 65 mph possible
  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

SUMMARY...A thunderstorm cluster with embedded supercells will
continue to drift slowly south-southeastward early this morning,
with a continuing threat for isolated large hail and severe outflow
gusts for a few more hours.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 30
statute miles north and south of a line from 65 miles west of Cannon
Afb NM to 60 miles east of Cannon Afb NM. For a complete depiction

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...This severe thunderstorm watch replaces
severe thunderstorm watch number 238. Watch number 238 will not
be in effect after 225 AM CDT. 

AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
1.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 55 knots. A
few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean storm motion vector
32010.
