The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  Western and Northern New York
  Northern Vermont
  Lake Erie
  Lake Ontario

* Effective this Sunday night and Monday morning from 955 PM
  until 500 AM EDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible
  A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...The risk of strong to severe thunderstorms will persist
much of the night as storms develop over lakes Erie and Ontario and
spread eastward.  The more intense cells will pose a risk of
damaging wind gusts and perhaps hail.  An isolated tornado is also
possible.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55
statute miles north and south of a line from 30 miles west northwest
of Jamestown NY to 30 miles northeast of Burlington VT. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
