URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 517 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 520 PM CDT Fri Aug 5 2022 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Western Minnesota Southeast North Dakota Central and Northeast South Dakota * Effective this Friday afternoon from 520 PM until Midnight CDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible SUMMARY...Strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to develop near a southwest/northeast-oriented boundary through early/mid-evening. An unstable environment in the presence of modest strength deep-layer winds will support potential for damaging winds and possibly isolated large hail. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60 statute miles east and west of a line from 95 miles west southwest of Chamberlain SD to 20 miles north of Detroit Lakes MN.
