Winter Weather 19DEC2011

The forecast for Monday night into Tuesday morning has been all over the place the last couple of days. My current thoughts on this has Jefferson County staying above freezing until around 3am or so. This will greatly diminish any chance we may have for major snowfall in the County. Below is the latest snowfall totals that I have the greatest confidence in.

This corresponds with the latest weather graphic from the Topeka NWS office that I have included below.

My primary concern at this time is that we may not get much snow before the morning commute Tuesday Morning, but the roads may cool enough to become very slick first thing in the morning.

We should be fine for both commutes on Monday as I do not see the risk of freezing precipitation until after Midnight. Please use caution Tuesday morning though and plan on giving yourself a little extra time.

I will be monitoring the conditions closely during this event and I will provide updates if my thoughts change much from this.

Doug
