The Kansas attorney general’s office filed an amended petition on Tuesday adding a defendant in a lawsuit to block the sale of Kansas Bureau of Investigation records tied to the Clutter family murders in 1959.
Investigative reports and other items offered for auction by survivors of a deceased Kansas Bureau of Investigation special agent involved in the four slayings are valued at a minimum of $40,000, according to the petition filed by Attorney General Derek Schmidt’s office.
The lawsuit is filed in Shawnee County District Court.
