Fire left heavy damage to the Banana Bakery and Ice Cream Store in the 3100 block of South Hillside.
It happened about 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon. A Wichita Fire Investigator said the accidental fire was sparked by too many combustibles next to a water heater.
There were two employees inside the store when the fire started. They got out safe. Damage was estimated at $250,000 to the store and its contents.
Firefighters will watch for hot spots throughout the night. No word, if owners will rebuild.
