A fire was reported this morning next to a residence at 1006 Second St. in Americus, according to scanner traffic.
The fire started in a chicken coop and spread to the garage. The chickens survived the fire.
The home owners are Gary and Thea Anstey. Their son, Brian Anstey, who lives across the street, spotted the fire around 6 a.m. when he went outside to walk his dog.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
