An intentionally-set fire did an estimated $25,000 in damage Thursday afternoon to a vacant house at 3716 S.W. Munson, authorities said.
No one was injured.
Topeka Fire Department Investigator Alan C. Stahl said firefighters were called shortly after 2:42 p.m. to the scene, where they arrived to see heavy smoke coming from the house.
Fire Department Shift Commander Cindy Holt said firefighters made “a good stop” of the blaze.
Stahl said the fire was determined to have been set in the house’s interior. He said all fire damage was structural, as the house was vacant, and there was no content loss.
The Olathe Fire Department K-9 unit was called to assist with investigation at the scene, Stahl said.
Shawnee County appraisal records show the property has an estimated value of $122,020, and has been owned since January 1999 by William E. and Terry A. Barker.
