An overnight fire caused an estimated $150,000 to a west-side pizza restaurant but resulted in no injuries, authorities said.
The blaze was reported just before midnight Tuesday at the Pizza Hut, 2119 S.W. Gage Blvd.
Employees who were still on hand at the business — which had closed for the night — noticed smoke and called 911.
Upon their arrival, fire crews found smoke coming from the building.
The fire was located above the ceiling and in the attic area of the building.
Crews had the blaze out in around 15 minutes, but the building sustained smoke and water damage.
A Topeka fire investigator was called to the scene and determined the blaze was likely accidental and possibly related to an electrical malfunction.
Of the estimated $150,000 loss, $100,000 was to the structure and $50,000 was to its contents.
Four engine companies and two truck companies responded to the alarm, along with two battalion chiefs, one safety officer and a fire investigator.
The Topeka Police Department and American Medical Response ambulance also responded to the scene.
