Salina Journal – December 9, 2013
A Salina fire truck was struck by a trailer being pulled by a pickup truck Sunday on Interstate Highway 135 near the Magnolia exit.
According to trooper Ben Gardner of the Kansas Highway Patrol, a Salina police officer was investigating a one-vehicle, non-injury crash about 9 a.m. Sunday on I-135 near the Magnolia exit. A Salina fire truck was parked on the median behind the crash, on the shoulder of the highway, facing south, Gardner said.
A southbound pickup truck and trailer was in the passing lane when the driver noticed the emergency vehicles ahead, Gardner said. When the driver moved the truck into the driving lane, the trailer swung out and hit the passenger side of the fire truck.
Both the fire truck and trailer had minimal damage, Gardner said. No injuries were reported.
