Son of KBI agent says copies of Clutter records belong to him

Ron Nye says copies made by his father of investigative records of the high-profile killings of the Herb Clutter family in 1959 are his, not the state’s.

Ron Nye is the son of Harold Nye, a Kansas Bureau of Investigation special agent in a squad assigned to investigate the slayings of Herb Clutter; his wife, Bonnie; their daughter, Nancy, 16; and their son, Kenyon, 15, who were killed Nov. 15, 1959, in their Holcomb home.

Nye and other KBI special agents tracked down the killers, arresting Richard Hickock and Perry Smith in December 1959 in Las Vegas.
