Structure fire reported

Fire crews from Emporia and surrounding fire departments were called to a structure fire around 10:20 a.m. this morning at 322 Sylvan St.

When crews arrived, smoke and flames were showing. Initial reports indicate the fire was in the attic area.

Around 10:30 a.m., mutual aid was requested by the Emporia Fire Department.

Scanner traffic indicated a firefighter from the scene was transported to the hospital with a knee injury.

Around 11:30 a.m. this morning, the fire scene remained active.
