Three people were taken to the hospital early Friday morning with injuries from a fire at an ingredients plant in Kansas City, Kan.
The fire started in a mixing machine at Caravan Ingredients Plant, 550 S. 18th St., at about 1:30 a.m.
Two of the injured were experiencing breathing problems from fire dust. The third person suffered burns from a pipe on the floor above. He was apparently standing next to the pipe when the fire started on the third floor of the six-story industrial building. His injuries were considered critical.
The plant continued to operate after the fire.
