PERRY — The statistics Perry resident Rhonda Schademann gives are staggering: Five million homeless pets are euthanized each year, with millions more living in shelters or on the streets. More than 350,000 adoptable pets — more than half canines — are listed online at Petfinder on any given day.
Schademann is trying to change those statistics by providing foster care for Labrador retrievers through her work with Denver, Colo.-based Mile High Labrador Mission Rescue.
