The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for…
Southwestern Douglas County in east central Kansas…
Northwestern Franklin County in east central Kansas…
Shawnee County in east central Kansas…
* Until 345 AM CDT.
* At 1153 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE…Radar.
IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Topeka, Rossville, Tecumseh, Richland, Dover, Silver Lake, Auburn,
Centropolis, Pomona, Clinton, Lone Star, Willard, Berryton,
Pauline, Clinton Lake and Globe.
This includes the following highways…
Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 166 and 188.
Interstate 70 between mile markers 347 and 355.
FLASH FLOOD…RADAR INDICATED

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
