Fire damages north Tulsa home

A homeowner is left with almost nothing after a fire ripped through a north Tulsa home Wednesday morning.

Fire officials said putting out the fire at the house was no simple task. They said there was an excessive amount of flammable materials inside the home.

“It is still under investigation but it was in this bedroom area in the south side of the home,” said District Chief Bryan Hickerson.

Smoke billowed from one of the front windows Wednesday morning. Many of the homeowner’s belongings followed as firefighters tossed items out as they tried to put out flames.

“You’ve got a lot of stuff in the home. I’m assuming the homeowner has been here a long time so there is a lot of clutter in the house. It took us little bit longer to get to it than we normally would,” said Hickerson.

Weather conditions also took a toll.

“The problem is we’ve got lots of ice here on the ground. In fact, I just watched a guy slip trying to pull a hose,” he said.

Everyone inside was able to make it out safely.

“One guy was in the house, he got out on his own, and one of the pets got out and a cat we got out,” he said.

The Red Cross stepped in to help the victim. They provided food, clothing and shelter.
