Shawnee Heights firefighters appear to have contained a blaze that has caused extensive damage to a one-story house.
Crews were called around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday to the house at 5132 S.E. 4th Terrace, where flames were said to have fully involved the house. At 8:20 a.m., smoke still was coming out of the house, but the fire appeared to be contained.
The home’s occupants, a man and two dogs, made it out safely and watched while crews battled the fire. Shawnee County Sheriff Herman Jones arrived to provide clothing items for the occupant.
Most of the damage appeared to be on the left side of the house.
