People driving on US-75 and US-24 highways near Soldier Township likely will see a lot of smoke Saturday.
That is because between 50 and 60 people have authority to burn materials in the township, which is located north of Topeka, just west of Meriden.
“Everybody is wanting to get some burning done,” said Marc Folsom, battalion chief with the Soldier Township Fire Department. “We had rain all this week, and this is really the first nice day anybody had a chance to burn.”
