Andy Rombeck, formerly of Marysville and now a Manhattan firefighter, participated in a memorial event for the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks.

On Sunday, the Kansas City 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb was held at the Town Pavillion. A total 343 firefighters–the number of firefighters who died in the 9/11 attacks–climbed 110 stories (the number of stories in the tower) in remembrance of those lost that day.

Five Manhattan firefighters were part of that group. Each firefighter was given a name and a picture of a fallen firefighter to carry during the climb.

A member of the New York Fire Department who was at the Twin Towers on 9/11 participated in the opening ceremony of the memorial climb.

Rombeck graduated from Marysville High School in 2003.
