Steve Moody, Emergency Services Director, met with the board. Steve relayed to the board that he enjoys working for Stafford County, and would like to continue to do so. All three commissioners agreed that he should continue as the Emergency Services Director. Misty Blakeslee, EMS Assistant Director, discussed the EMS billing for the month of August. Moody then brought up the Administrative Assistant suggestion that was made at last week’s session. By moving the billing responsibilities to hospital, additional staff is not needed. He doesn’t want to burden the taxpayers with another employee. Steve has talked with the Sheriff about the possibility of the graveyard shift dispatcher taking over some of the administrative duties that pertain to the fire department.

The Fire Department billing policy will be reviewed by Moody and the Commission Board. The Big Foot truck has had the cylinder wall fixed, but another sleeve is scored. Engine 21 will go to Hays to have the water tank fixed. Stafford County will receive $7,014 in 2013 Emergency Management Performance Grant Funds. Shane Stimatze moved and Kurt Fairchild seconded to allow Chairman Grimmett to sign the Emergency Performance Grant Application. Motion carried 3-0. Building Maintenance—the new windows are in, new storm door installed, and the hot water heater had to be replaced. The Fire Corridor Agreement has passed all three city councils, Moody is waiting on the Macksville paperwork. Hazmat awareness training for all firefighters will be completed in the near future. The St. John Hospital Foundation purchased a power cot for the department a few months ago. The department is still waiting on delivery of the cot due to a recall.

Shane Stimatze moved and Kurt Fairchild seconded to adopt the corrected minutes from the August 14th meeting. Motion carried 3-0. The wording in the minutes was changed from “I” to “someone from the EMS office”, pertaining to who exactly contacted Doyle Wilson concerning a fire department billing. It was pointed out at last week’s session that after reviewing the tape, the County Clerk had recorded the minutes incorrectly.
