Mural man: Topeka artist brightens downtown Perry

PERRY — Topeka muralist Charles Moore doesn’t like to create art for art’s sake. Instead, he prefers his works to be teaching tools. His latest mural, on the side of a building south of city hall in downtown Perry, stands as an example.

The painting is an outline of Kansas that contains several images, including a truss bridge, railroad tracks, US-24 highway, a directional signpost showing where other cities are located in the state, a brick pillar dedicated by Perry High School’s Class of 1926 and a memorial obelisk erected in a nearby cornfield.
