No one was injured after an engine malfunction caused a small fire in a plane shortly after takeoff Tuesday afternoon from the Hutchinson Airport.

Smoke from the fire in the engine compartment of the 1960 Piper Comanche came into the cabin as Kristopher J. Richardson, 32, of Hutchinson, made an emergency landing about 1:30 p.m. The fire was contained in the engine compartment.
