A sure sign that it is getting dry again happened Sunday afternoon in 99 degree weather when a swather started a field fire two miles north of Harper.
Hank Hilger was swathing a grass field just west of the intersection of NE 5 Avenue and NE 120 Road when the rotary swather apparently hit a rock causing a spark to ignite the partially green field that put off a lot more smoke than fire.
Three Harper fire units made quick work of the fire and had it under control in ten minutes after their arrival. About three acres of grass burned.
