Trailer burns in fire

Junction City Daily Union – October 22, 2013

A fire claimed most of a trailer Saturday morning in Junction City.

At about 8 a.m., the Junction City Fire Department and Junction City police responded to 364 Grant Ave. where trailer 21B was on fire.

Nobody was injured, but the trailer is considered to be a total loss, Junction City Fire Chief Kevin Royse said on Monday.

“It was half gone,” he said. “There isn’t much left.”

Royse said combustible materials left too close to the furnace caused the fire.

The Red Cross has been notified.

Later Saturday morning, firefighters and police responded to a small fire at Papa John’s Pizza, located at 204 Grant Ave. Suite D.

Royse said the fire was minor.

“It was just a belt in their furnace, so it was all exterior,” he said. “They kicked the heater on for the first time (this year) and that caused some smoke.”

Nobody was injured in that fire, police stated in an incident report.
