A vacant house caught fire early Friday in Oaklawn, not far from McConnell Air Force Base.

Early reports indicate the first fire crew found flames coming from the back of a house in the 5000 block of South Elmhurst around 1:45 a.m.  Then they discovered the basement was burning, which complicated the situation. . The fire went through the roof, left a hole in the floor, and threatened power lines for awhile before several firefighters brought things under control. It took about an hour to get the fire extinguished.

KAKE News confirmed the house has been vacant for several weeks. No one was injured. No cause has been announced for the fire.
