Today’s widespread AT&T cell phone outage is a perfect reminder to develop a plan detailing how you might contact your loved ones in the event of a disaster. Cellphones are wonderful tools that make life easier and are very convenient. The weak part of cellphone communications is the over the air link that requires the cell towers to be up and working properly. Always have a backup means of communication available, even if that plan is just to send a runner somewhere. Visit the FEMA site www.ready.gov/family-communications for some ideas of how you can build and maintain communication plan and contact family members in times of trouble.
