MD 0628 Image

Mesoscale Discussion 0628
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0515 PM CDT Wed Apr 26 2023

Areas affected...portions of northeast Florida

Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely

Valid 262215Z - 262345Z

Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent

SUMMARY...A few supercells across northeast Florida will continue to
pose a large hail and damaging wind threat for a few hours this
evening.

DISCUSSION...Isolated supercells have been ongoing intermittently
through the afternoon across northeast Florida and southeast Georgia
with several reports of large hail. In addition, there are signs of
additional development in the region which could lead to additional
supercells this evening. MLCAPE around 1500 J/kg and effective shear
around 40-45 knots per SPC mesoanalysis will continue to support
supercell structures and the potential for large hail and damaging
winds. However, this threat should only last for a few more hours
before daytime heating wanes and the threat lessens. Therefore, no
watch additional watch expected in this area.
