MD 0631 CONCERNING TORNADO WATCH 169…170… FOR PARTS OF CENTRAL INTO SOUTHEAST TEXAS
Mesoscale Discussion 0631 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0836 PM CDT Wed Apr 26 2023 Areas affected...parts of central into southeast Texas Concerning...Tornado Watch 169...170... Valid 270136Z - 270330Z The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 169, 170 continues. SUMMARY...Potential for severe wind gusts may increase with an evolving cluster of storms approaching the Lufkin and Huntsville areas, perhaps into the College Station vicinity, through 10-11 PM CDT. DISCUSSION...Moderately strong inflow of seasonably moist boundary-layer air, characterized by large CAPE, continues into the lead supercell now crossing I-45 to the south of Fairfield. A larger, more organized structure appears to be in the process of evolving, and a better-defined lower/mid-tropospheric cyclonic circulation might continue to develop through 03-04Z, while propagating toward the Huntsville/Lufkin vicinities. As this occurs, strengthening rear inflow southwest through south of the circulation may gradually be accompanied by an increase in potential for strong surface gusts. ..Kerr.. 04/27/2023 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product...
